Who am I? Cameron Rohlfsen.

I’m Cameron Rohlfsen, from Omaha, Nebraska, pursuing a Computer Science degree at the University of Notre Dame’s College of Engineering, with a minor in Engineering Corporate Practice. My passion lies where software, engineering, and business intersect, and I’m committed to leveraging technology to build innovative, impactful solutions. I excel in collaborative environments that emphasize respect, growth, and critical thinking. Guided by a strong commitment to service, I aim to ensure my work positively impacts others.

Looking ahead, I’m excited to join DRW in Summer 2026 as a Leadership Rotation Network (LRN) Analyst Intern in Chicago. In this role, I’ll contribute to fintech teams such as Global Trading Operations, Treasury, Product Control, Credit Risk, Project Management, Business Management, and Finance, gaining a behind-the-scenes look at how innovative systems and people support complex trading functions.

Currently, I am a Greenwood Project Scholar, gaining hands-on experience and professional development in the fintech sector. Through mentorship and diverse exposure to software engineering and operations/risk, I’m deepening my understanding of how technology drives cross-industry innovation. Last summer, I interned as an AI Integration Intern on the Decision Support Services team at MCL Construction. I applied AI, business intelligence, and data analytics to streamline operations, automate tasks, enhance data visualization, and integrate digital solutions into large-scale projects.

My Education and Study Abroad Experience

During my first two years at the University of Notre Dame, I experienced significant growth as a student, leader, and individual through my coursework and extracurricular activities. This diverse academic background has strengthened my problem-solving abilities, cross-functional teamwork skills, and understand of engineering principles. As I head into my third year, I’m excited to continue building on this foundation.

In the summer after my first year, I participated in the engineering summer study abroad program in London. This program allowed me to take two courses taught by three Notre Dame professors, specifically designed for 50 undergraduate engineers. It provided a unique opportunity to live and learn in one of the most international cities in the world, broadening my intellectual and cultural horizons. Classes were held just off bustling Trafalgar Square in the heart of London. My coursework included visits to museums, art galleries, theater performances, and historic sites. I also had the chance to travel independently, exploring places such as Cambridge, Oxford, Dublin, Galway, the Aran Islands, the Cliffs of Moher, Zurich, Milan, Greenwich, the Seven Sisters Cliffs, and Brighton during the six-week program.

I am grateful to have had this experience, as it helped me grow personally by broadening my perspective and connecting me with other engineers in the program. The program emphasized group work and presentations, which greatly enhanced my collaboration and public speaking skills.

My Service: Fighting Hunger

In high school, I was an active member of Operation Others, an organization run by Catholic high school students in the Omaha area. Our mission was to provide food assistance to 1,200 families during the Christmas season, educate the community about food insecurity, and encourage a preferential option for the poor. Through my volunteering, I organized canned food drives, coordinated "Trunk or Treat" events at Catholic schools in Omaha, and assisted with packaging and truck deliveries.

At Notre Dame, I continued to volunteer in the food industry. Every Saturday in the fall, I volunteered with other members of my dorm at GreenBridge Growers, a farm that uses innovative methods to grow sustainable, fresh produce for the state of Indiana. My volunteering included picking fruits and vegetables, weeding, and maintaining the farm.

As part of the Incubation Project, I assisted in the development of an AI-powered chatbot using Python, PostgreSQL, and Next.js, integrating OpenAI's GPT-3.5-turbo for real-time conversational intelligence.

Collaborated on a Data Club project leveraging Palantir Foundry to develop AI-driven predictive models for forecasting disease outbreaks and optimizing medical resource allocation.
